Sandipon Das is a known singer of Bengali Music Industry. He is very much respected for his versatility. Till now he has eight solo albums under his name with a few mixed albums, which includes folk songs, Contemporary Bengali songs and nationalistic songs. Sandipon das has a couple of duet albums which were equally successful.
As a popular singer, Sandipon has numerous hit songs, among them – “Modhu khoi khoi bish khawaila” and “Sonabandhu” gave him the recognition nationwide and also internationally.
Sandipon’s singing talent was spotted at his early age, when he got his first singing lessons and inspiration from his father Late Mr. Amar Krishna Das. Later sandipon got his first formal indian classical singing training from ustad Mihir kanti lala. Later while living in India, he got the opportunity to learn Tagore songs from the legend Mr. Dijen Mukhapaddhay.
Besides, Sandipon’s singing talent, he is also a trained actor. He is a graduate of National Institute of Film and fine arts of India. As an actor Sandipon was member of couple of theatre companies. His first introduction to theatre happened in late 1990’s through The legendary actor and director Utpal datta’s theatre company named – Peoples Little Theatre of India. Later, in 1999 on his return to Dhaka Sandipon joined country’s leading theatre company – Nagarik Natta Shamproday. During his time in theatre Sandipon acted in various stage plays. Additionally, Sandipon has acted in various Television plays among them Salauddin Zaki’s “Harano Patar Prem’ got huge acclamations from both mass and critics for his outstanding performance.
Furthermore, Sandipon das is also regarded as a puppeteer and voice artist. He had been an active member of Sanjit Ghosh’s Little puppet Theatre of India. Moreover, in early 2000’s he worked as a voice over artist for Famous puppet show on Television – Sesame Street of Bangladesh named – Sisimpur. His voice for the character name ’Grover’ gained huge popularity among the viewers of Bangladesh.
Amongst all his talents Sandipon has taken singing as his profession. Nowadays he is very busy with live shows nationally and internationally. His regular visits in Europe, Middle-East and in East Asia countries proves his popularity among Bangladeshi diasporas in those regions. Currently, he is attending every musical shows in every television channels of Bangladesh regularly. He is an enlisted singer of Bangladesh television and Bangladesh Radio.
In recent time, Sandipon has established his own organization ‘Shishurajjo’. Its prime focus is to work for the adolescents and their betterments.
